I have a removable disk (GSmile which I am using for backing up files on
the computer (Computer1) which G: is attached to (via a USB socket).

Now, I want to use the same disk to backup files from another computer
(Computer2).

I have tried dragging G: into the Shared Documents folder of Computer1
and this seems OK. It appears in that folder and I can see what is on it
using Windows explorer.

But when I go to Computer2 that is networked with Computer1 (via an
Ethernet hub), I can see G: in the Shared Documents folder of Computer1
but it has a red question mark against it and I cannot access the
contents of the disk.

I would be grateful for any advice about how to solve this problem.

More generally, I would be glad of advice about how to use a removable
disk on one computer as a place to backup files from another computer
over an Ethernet.

With thanks,

Gerry

Boot to Safe Mode, and log on as the "Administrator" account. Rightclick the
G: drive, then Properties, Sharing tab, and share the drive.

OK, that's solved the problem!

Many thanks.
