Trying to setup a remote printer. At the remote pc, Control
Panel>Printer&Fax>add a printer>browse for a printer>"Microsoft windows
network>'epson" click next... gives a message that it cannot connect to the
printer. Question why? The remote pc can connect ot the internet wirelessly
and both pcs have the same workgroup name "WORKGROUP'. The printer (shared
logo) is connected to the first pc and I can print . The Windows Firewall is
also check for File and Printer sharing. There is no mistake in the name of
the printer. Please help.

You do not seem to be connecting to the host PC correctly. If the
printer name is "epson" then you nedd to connect to the "host" PC
first in order to locate the printer "epson"

Control Panel
Printer&Fax
add a printer>browse for a printer>"Microsoft windows network
-- Locate the "host" PC

Click on 'epson'.

Also, check your anti-virus system. Several anti-virus systems offer
Internet worm blocking and this behave exactly like firewalls.

Are you trying to do this as an "administrator" type account?

Since you didn't tell us which Epson printer, I can only tell you that your
method will not setup a Photo 1280 for remote printing.

You must install the printer software on the remote computer.

During setup, you direct the output of the spool file to the port on the
host computer which connects to the printer.

I had some notes somewhere, but I can't find them now.
I sent a message to Epson support, and they sent me back complete
instructions.

What I have posted is a brief overview of what you must do.

You won't get far if you are not a member of the administrators group.

How does the manual for your device tell you to install it for network
access?

Have you asked Epson for help?
