A year or so ago, I picked up a Korg TR76 Keyboard and have been using it as
a subsitute for my piano. I have recently become interested in composing
via my Dell running Windows XP, and was wondering if anyone knows of any
software that runs under XP that will allow me to write music on the
computer and play it through my Korg keyboard. I assume I need some sort of
interface card as well?

Thanks for your help!

Almost all music notation programs allow play-back via MIDI. All you
need then is a MIDI connection between your PC and the Korg. I believe
the Korg uses a USB cable; how you get a PC to issue MIDI commands
through a USB port, I don't know - that used to be done via the game
port on the sound card.

For a list of notation programs, see
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_scorewriters>. My favourite is
MOZART; it's not terribly expensive and has a very smart way of entering
notes from the computer keyboard. You can also play-in notes from a MIDI
keyboard. There's a fully functional evaluation version and a free
viewer/player/printer. It runs under any Windows version (95 -> Vista).
