|
|
Hi
I can't get my laptop running WindowXP Pro (SP2) to join our local
Domain on Microsoft Windows Server 2003.
I have just rebuilt the hard disk on my (IBM Thinkpad) laptop - i.e.
reset the disk to factory defaults. In effect I have reformatted the
hard disk (I believe).
My desktop PC has joined OK, but not my laptop. I have tried to use
the same settings on my (IBM Thinkpad) laptop as are on the PC. The
laptop can see the internet, but not the company domain.
If I go to System Properties > Computer Name, it gives the correct
computer name as it was called before I rebuilt the disk. So far so
good.
But if I then click on the "Network ID" button > Yes (part of a
business network) > Yes (company uses a nework with domain) >
If I then enter my Username + my password + my company domain name (I
have tried both with and without ".dom" stuck on the end)
=> it then comes back with: "Windows can not find an account for your
computer on the XYZ domain.
Help?!
With thanks

P.S. And I must be connected physically to the network because using
Windows Explorer, my Desktop PC can see the
"Workgroup" which wasnt there before (within Microsoft Windows
Network)

You are going to need the services of your domain administrator for the
network to assist you in connecting the laptop.
If you are the domain administrator, post back.
