Hi All,

Looking for a Heat Sink for the Maximus Formula Mother Board. Here is the link for the MB:
http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=11&l3=572&l4=0&model=1850&mo delmenu=2

The problem is that there are heat sinks within the CPU socket, so the heat sink with the fan needs to be elevated. I tried and none worked. I was told that Zalman CNPS9500A LED should work but I get mixed opinions. (http://www.ZalmanUSA.com)

Need really to replace the Stock Fan that is making a lot of noise out of the Core 2 Quad 3GHz CPU.

Appreciate some feedback.

Thanks,

Joe

Your post is purely hardware related and has nothing to do with XP -
hence it does not belong HERE.

No I am not building at this point in time ..I was just curious enough to
look it up.
What you think are 2 push buttons are connectors for water cooling the
heatpipe......!!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe you should go to the ASUS website and take a better look at the specs
and then use google to search for reviews of the board...which is how I
found this info

Hi Peter,

Thanks a lot for taking the time. I guess you are building a computer with
same mother board.
Did you modify the left heat sink of the Mother board since I see some 2
push buttons if I am not mistaken.

The Extrem 120 is pretty big heat sink and still managed to fit since it
is elevated enough.

What is the distance of the Extreme 120 from the right heat sink of the
MB? From your picture's angle it is difficult to see that.

Also I guess I can install a SilenX fan like this one:

Joe
