|
|
Just installed a memory card reader. XP MCE 2005 recognizes it as a
removable drive. If I jump through several hoops I can reach a box
which gives the option of 'optimizing for quick removal' or
'optimizing for performance'. These settings are described as either
disabling or enabling write-caching for this device. Any good reasons
to choose one over the other? Obviously in this case no hot-swapping
of the card reader is planned, but is enabling write-caching a good
thing to do in this situation? Reader will be used for SD card to
import digital camera images into editing software. Thanks very much
and happy holidays! Bob |

For removable USB drives these policies are a placebo
which have no measurable effect. No write chache with
both settings.

It didn't really sound applicable, but you never know. Thanks for the
clarification. Bob
