Is it possible to capture the video onto an external source such as a
flashcard or onto another computer on my home network? My computer does not
have enough space for the capture currently.

yes...... but check the location of the Movie Maker temporary files, which
is the first place the captured file goes to... use the menu > Tools >
Options > General > Temporary Storage location.... make it other than your
commuter drive.
