I have Pentium3 PC with OS WinXP installed recently, I am unable to play CD
and DVD. When I had Win98SE everything worked fine but after installing XP I
am having problem. When I checked the Device Manager I can see the drives
for my Pioneer CD-Rom and DVD-Rom, but when I insert the CD or DVD nothing
happens and I see some files named VCD,CDI, MPEG I am unable to do anything
with them.
Please could someone help me what to do.

For DVD's you need to install a decoder.

When you say also you cannot play CD's do you mean
just VCD's that are composed of MPEG1 or all CD's
including audio?
Whatever, you need codecs for playback media files:
