I was able to do this years ago with Win98 but never have been able to
do it with Win XP Pro and now need to. I've tried accessing my PC from
a friends laptop & the local library but the error message is the
same: "This page cannot be displayed." On my PC, I have run the
ipconfig command to get the IP address. I actually tried the IP
address and the Default Gateway IP address I got when I ran the
ipconfig command. I have enabled Remote access/Desktop & firewall.
From my friends laptop & the library, I typed in http:// my IP address/
tsweb to no avail. What am I doing wrong?

Do you have TCP Port 80 (IIS) and TCP Port 3389 (RDP) forwarded/open on any
firewall/router your home PC is behind? Also note that many ISPs block TCP
Port 80 incoming to residential accounts. From your home machine you can
test both by going to the http://www.canyouseeme.org site.

Hello,
I checked both of those ports using canyouseeme.org & both ports are
open. It did give me a different IP address than the ipconfig command
gave me but I already tried that address too to no avail. Any more
suggestions ?

The IP to use is what was reported by the http://canyouseeme.org or
http://www.whatismyip.com sites. That is the public IP assigned to you by
your ISP. Both should be the same. Do you have IIS enabled on your home PC
and does it have Remote Desktop enabled?

Are you using a static LAN IP for your IIS/Remote Desktop XP host machine?
If not perhaps the dynamic LAN IP has changed negating your port forwarding
setup in your router.
Personally I think the web based method is more trouble that its worth.
