Is it possible to download U-tube videos and if so could
someone please give proper steps in doing so? Also is
there a program to convert them to mpeg for dvd archiving?
If software is needed to download are there any programs
reccommended? I'm a complete amateur, but have seen some
videos I'd like to download. |

================ |
The following site will convert the
YouTube video clips from .flv to .avi.
vixy.net
http://vixy.net/
Then you can download the converted
files to your hard drive.
Maybe the following info will be
useful to you:
====================================
When using the http://vixy.net/ site with YouTube...
the first step simply converts the video clip to
a different format...avi for example. Next...
you have to download the converted file to your
hard drive as follows:
After the file conversion is finished you will see
the following dialog on the screen:
Conversion Finished. Please download the following link:.
Download the converted video
You can right click "Download the converted video"
and choose... "Save Target As"...this will open the
"Save As" dialog that allows you to choose a save
location on your hard drive. Choose...Desktop...
and click the "Save" button.
After the file is downloaded you can go to your
desktop and move the file to any folder you
choose.
Note: I've noticed that sometimes the conversion
will fail...I think this is due to high traffic on the site...
the solution is to simply try again.

It was once quite easy, and several sites would do it, but
after an exchange with another poster I found that YT and
google are somehow blocking grabbing sites.
You could try this tool, you have to download and install
but it is free, and the site has full tutorial:

Try these 2 free small programs: Orbit FLV downloader (use to download
the video) and then Freez FLVtoAVI/MPG/WMV (use to change the FLV file
to another format). Works for me.

I downloaded this program and ran it with a YouTube URL and it worked |
like a charm. Let's hope it keeps working.
