The Add/Edit Buttons on the Advanced Settings Tab for the Network Connection
Settings are grayed out.

Here is how to reach that window
Control Panel->Window Firewall->Advanced Tab->Select LAN Connection and
select Settings Button.

when i try to add a new service the ADD/EDIT button are grayed out. can any
one explore the solution for this.

Are you in a domain?
Is group policy in use?
Are you logged in using an account that has sufficient permissions (e.g.,
Administrator) when you try to do this?

ciedHi Lanwench,
I have logged in as Administrator and turned on Windows Firewall.
I opened the gpedit.msc to check for Group Polices but no Group Polices are
Configured".
Is there in way to disable the Group Policies for a while.
and also Machine is in domain only.

That isn't where you look. If you're on a domain, run rsop.msc (in start |
run).

I suggest you work with the people who manage your domain/policies on this.

HI,
Do you have any idea on .msi files? actually we are running security.msi
file which is responsible for disabling firewall options. I dont have any
idea on this what it does and all.
But we use Microsoft's Intallshield to open/edit these msi files.

can you Please tell how to explore these msi files?
