|
|
I'm having a problem with my new ViewSonic 19" LCD monitor. They want
me to use screen resolution 1440x900, but I don't want to use that. I
want something with smaller fonts, more real estate. If I choose
1920x1200, it gives me "more area", but the resolution itself is still
the same - meaning stuff appears off the edge of the screen, and if I
push my mouse that way, the screen scrolls. I'd like it to use
different fonts, etc. to give me more content within the viewing area.
If I use 1280x1024, I get about 6 extra lines, but, it's a very short,
fat font and it's a little fuzzy. Is there any way I can get the
monitor to use smaller fonts to give me what I want?
I used to have this problem with my old, CRT monitor, and I would just
unplug the monitor, change the resolution on the monitor (without
Extending my Desktop), then plug the monitor back in. But that trick
doesn't work with this new monitor.
I have a Dell Latitude D620 laptop, also fairly new.
Thanks for your help! |

1440x900 is the maximum resolution for the 19" monitor. If you want higher,
you'd be better off using a larger monitor, like a 24" or 28"

One of my co-workers has the same monitor, and she's displaying a nice
tiny font. She has a desktop machine, though, whereas I have a
laptop. I have heard it might mean a graphics card upgrade or
something. Another co-worker is using a DVI cable from his laptop,
but to a different kind of monitor, so I don't know if that would be
another way to correct my problem. Any thoughts?

Some graphics cards will go much higher, but the 19" Viewsonic does prefer
the default resolution you already have. Since you cannot change the
graphics card on a notebook, you're pretty much stuck with what you have.
