Please help; whenever I select and/or type into a Word 2007 Table Cell, the
entire cell is colored dark blue and I cannot see the cursor or text. This is
an incredible annoyance; I cannot find a way to turn the feature/annoyance
off. This makes working with tables almost impossible and I use them daily;
can someone please help me? Thank you in advance... Koja

Is this a display issue only or do tables print with the dark blue color?

I have a client with the same issue also. clicking to select words or to
place the cursor between letters as well as jus click within the plain area
of a table will hightlight the whole cell, or whole table a dark blue. The
more you click it, the darker it gets, to a point where it just stays.
Clicking does not clear it regularly. It seems to clear randomly. It also
happen when typing, then hitting enter. Its very odd, i've not seen this
before We just installed office 07 for this user. Any help on this would be
great!

Did you check the display settings in Control Panel?

Yes. It's nothing so simplistim. I'm a network engineer so i've dealt with
lots of desktop issues, but this is something I haven't seen before. This
only appears to happen with office 07. I'll have to check some of the other
user to see if I can discern a pattern.... Koja, was this a fresh install of
office 2007 or did you upgrade to 2007 with a previous version already
installed?

Hi Stefan,
Thank you for responding; in response to your question:
It is just a disply problem... the color does not print. You can color the
cell, but the dark blue also finally engulfes that as well and then you
cannot read the type.
I finally bought the book, "Using Word 2007 Special Edition" and tried
everything I could find in resetting and troubleshooting, but still no change.

It seems to be the same problem that JT has also asked about; however, I can
click on another cell and run the page up and down and the blue will go away
until a cell is clicked on again and then all goes dark blue!!

Hi JT,
Yes, not only was it a fresh install, but I also uninstalled Office 2003
before installing Office 2007.

I have also tried saving the file as a 2003, but this does not seem to clear
up the problem. I have tried opening tables saved previously in 2003 and they
also exhibit the problem. I cannot find the cause either and am hoping to
find answers here......

I'm trying to play with the settings on my clients PC remotly, so far, to no
avail. Koja, have you tried removing work from office only while leaving the
other programs in. Then rebooting and reinstalling word again? I will have to
wait to try this on monday when i'll be on site. I'm hoping some setting will
or glitch will be reset. Other clients in the office do not seem to exibit
the same behavior, even ones with a similar setup....still trying to figure
out how to fix this....

I am having the exact same problem. Have tried formatting, etc. and it just
keeps getting darker. It's VERY frustrating as I work in tables frequently.
Any help will be appreciated.

Koja and whisper, can you check your toolbar in word and tell me how many
items are in there? (It's the customizeable bar that sites above or below the
large bar, and has the one click shortcut for save, and undo, and things like
that?) By default it has 3 or 4.

I gather that you are referring to the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT) in Word
2007? It can also be moved below the ribbon (which is handy when you've
added a lot more buttons).

By default it has buttons for Save, Undo (with a dropdown), and Redo
according to the reference at
http://office.microsoft.com/assistance/asstvid.aspx?assetid=XT100766331033&vwidth=1044&vheight=788&type=flash&CTT=11&Origin=HA100744321033,
but a printout I have of the UI also shows a button for FilePrintDefault.

Hi JT,
No, I have not tried re-installing Word... I will try 1st) re-installing
just Word; then 2nd) Reinstalling the entire Office Package.

I was also thinking today (dangerous, I know) that I purchased "Office Pro
Plus Win32" through the Univ. of Phoenix as a student package. Do you think
there is any tie there?

Thanks again...

Hi JT,
Mine is know full, I have been banging my head against to wall and using the
program for work and college classes. If it was not for the extra features
and my hard head, I would almost go back to 2003!

Anyway, because I am trying different things, I currently have loads of
items on the "tool bar" or ribbon as I guess it is now called.

Hi Suzanne,
I started out with just a few, but I could not leave it alone and have added
everything that I am used to to the Quick Access toolbar and have placed it
above and below the ribbon.... thank you.

Suzanne, Thanks, yeah, that was the name I was looking for! Quick Access
Toolbar (QAT)

Koja and Whisper, Can you tell me how many buttons you have in the Quick
Access Toolbar (QAT)? How many have you added etc..?

Koja, let me know before you ty to reinstalling office. reinstalling word
did nothing for me, so don't bother. and no, I don't think the version has
anything to do with it.

I may have an answer, but let me know regarding the question above.
