Hi Whisper,
I cannot figure it out... It seems that the problem is widespread, but it
does not affect all installations. I have installed all updates and do so
automatically; I run current anti-Virus & Spyware software. I have a coworker
that runs XP, Office 2007, and Macafee (anti-Virus software), but does not
have the issue. Out of curiosity, what virus software are you running.... I
am running Norton and Webroot, but am thinking of dropping Webroot as the
subscription has expired; oh, I also run MS Defender. Note: The problem seems
to be table specific and does not show up in Excel, etc.

I want to try shutting all of that down, and trying Word and see in that has
anything to do with it; I doubt it, but one never knows when/where the
conflicts can strike. I'll keep the thread posted...

I am having the exact same problem. Have tried formatting, etc. and it just
keeps getting darker. It's VERY frustrating as I work in tables frequently.
Any help will be appreciated.

Please help; whenever I select and/or type into a Word 2007 Table Cell, the
entire cell is colored dark blue and I cannot see the cursor or text. This is
an incredible annoyance; I cannot find a way to turn the feature/annoyance
off. This makes working with tables almost impossible and I use them daily;
can someone please help me? Thank you in advance... Koja

Sorry if you already answered that Koja, I think I was looking at an old
reply.

-OK, click on the little pull down menu for the Quick Access Toolbar
-choose more commands
-on the right under your toolbar window, click the reset button (this will
undo all of your cutomization, sorry)
-click ok.
-make sure the Quick Access Toolbar has only the 3 (I think its 3) default
icons
-exit word, reopen word
-create a new table as a test, and try to get it to darken the cells again.

Let me know what happens!

I don't have Word 2007 installed yet, but every time I use one of my custom
buttons in Word 2003, I think about how much I'll have to add to the QAT.
The power users have different QATs in different templates, and eventually
maybe I'll figure that out as well.

Hi Suzanne,
I started out with just a few, but I could not leave it alone and have
added
everything that I am used to to the Quick Access toolbar and have placed
it
above and below the ribbon.... thank you.

I gather that you are referring to the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT) in Word
2007? It can also be moved below the ribbon (which is handy when you've
added a lot more buttons).

By default it has buttons for Save, Undo (with a dropdown), and Redo
according to the reference at
http://office.microsoft.com/assistance/asstvid.aspx?assetid=XT100766331033&vwidth=1044&vheight=788&type=flash&CTT=11&Origin=HA100744321033,
but a printout I have of the UI also shows a button for FilePrintDefault.

Koja and whisper, can you check your toolbar in word and tell me how
many
items are in there? (It's the customizeable bar that sites above or
below
the
large bar, and has the one click shortcut for save, and undo, and
things
like
that?) By default it has 3 or 4.

JT, that worked !!! I did a print screen of my customized access bar so I
could quickly add them back in. Thank you so much, that was extremely
frustrating. But how interesting that the customized bar would have such an
influence. Go figure. I've re-customized the bar and tables still seem to
work OK. Thanks again...Whisper

JT, yesterday the problem seemed to be solved, but I'm working in another
table today and the problem has returned. I did re-customize my Quick Access
toolbar. I'll re-set it AGAIN, but I simply must have my shortcuts !! Why
click 3 times when I can click 1 time? I'm wondering if Koja ended up with
the same problem after she reset her QAT?

Thanks for any help, Whisper

Thank you for figuring the problem out... I like what I was setting up and
will watch how things interact in the future.

Thank you again,

Hi Whisper,
I reset the QAT and it cleared the problem, but like you I am used to the
shortcuts and will start adding them again. Because of the problem returning
to your system, I can only assume the there is a conflict with one or more
short-cuts, or the quantity added... I had quite a few. I like the new Word,
but really liked the toolbars in Word 2003 much better, thet were so easy and
quick to use!!
Thanks again and I will post what happens as I start to add short-cuts again.

I apologize for the delay in responding to everyone... I lost my father this
last week and things have been very hectic.

I will try to post soon...

Thanks again for everyone's support,
Koja
