|
|
I am running XP Pro SP2 on 3 different machines. 2 hosts and 1 is the
client.
If I keep both hosts using port 3389 and VPN into the network, remote
control can be used to control both hosts.
I tried to change the port on Host-1 and couldn't make a connection until I
changed the port to 8080 and things started working fine connecting to
Host-1. Obviously this was after using regedit to change the listening
port, changing my router and changing windows firewall and rebooting.
I tried to change the port on Host 2 to 5901 and 5902. On both occasions I
changed the registry to 5901, opened up the port in Windows Firewall, told
my router the incoming port was going to be 5901 and redirected the router
to Host 2 and rebooted. After rebooting, I used a port sniffer and the
ports were not open. When I run the sniffer on Host 1 it shows 8080 being
opened.
My question is ---is there any other port you recommend I use so that
windows will open the port after I do these things so I can remote control
into both machines.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give. |
