I was having trouble with my computer shutting off, and getting messages
stating there was a possible problem with the drivers in my system. I
followed the instructions from Microsoft about going to the system
configuration and attempting to find out the problem. Now I cannot get back
into the internet ( I can get on the computer) - I am not able to restart the
system configuration in the normal setup - it states "An Access Denied error
was returned while attempting to change a service. You may need to log on
using an Administrator account to make the specified changes." Under the
services tab - almost all the applications' status are "stopped". What do I
need to do to get this restarted? I have tried to to the system restore but
it has not worked. Any help would be appreciated.

Try going back to an even earlier Restore date;
sometimes it works. If no joy, start in Safe Mode and
use the default Admin Account available from there.
NOT you admin account, the system default account.
