Has anyone used the play-and-charge cable without the MS rechargeable
battery pack but rather with normal rechargeable AA batteries? Does it
work? I think I read a spec that the charger was 2100 mAh but my
rechargeable batteries are 2500 mAh. I'm guessing that just means it'll
take longer to recharge them, but who cares.

The official battery packs use a different connector when charging, so
regular AA batteries will not charge when using the play-and-charge kit.

Not only that, but the play and charge kit wouldn't be able to tell
when the rechargeable batteries were fully charged and it could cause
the batteries to leak or explode since there is no way to slow down or
stop the electrical flow to the batteries.

The Battery packs are different. The one that comes with the controller
that you can use whatever AA you want uses the battery ends it's self are
used to run the controller. The MS Rechargeable battery packs have a 6 pin
connector on the back side of the fully enclosed battery pack. If you look
in your controller, you can see 4 pins sticking out. That's where it's
getting it's power from, while you see the regular battery connection on the
bottom of the controller. The quick charger has all 6 of the pins.
You can buy a cheap AA quick charger to plug your rechargeable AA batteries
in. Most Supermarkets have them in the battery section. I was doing that
myself at first, but the MS battery packs seem to hold a charge longer, and
they read better of how much charge is left when you look on the 360's
screen at the battery life indicator. |
