|
|
I have burned DVDs using software for authoring and burning DVDs from video
files in mpeg format. But I am unable to do the same for some of the flash
video files I have in FLV format.
I am interested in either 1) authoring and burning a DVD directly from
videos in FLV format or if that is not possible 2) to convert the FLV files
to an mpeg or WMV or MOV format and make them into a DVD.
The questions which I am facing are: 1) Is there any suitable software for
conversion or direct authoring of FLV videos? 2) Is there a loss in the
quality of the video in the conversion, especially if the conversion is a
relatively recent development of software and 3) For viewing a DVD of FLV
files, is there any good Player which automatically plays all the files, one
by one, as does a DVD with mpeg files?

Maybe the following free software will
help you convert the .flv files.
SUPER © Simplified
Universal Player Encoder & Renderer

(the mirror download site is faster)

Try this combo: Orbit flv downloader plus Freez FLVtoAVI/MPG/WMV
converter. Both free as I recall.

Sincere thanks - John Inzer and Kenneth J. Harris - for your helpful
suggestions. I shall try. But since both of you are talking of conversion of
FLV to mpeg format, does one get the impression that there is no software
package for authoring and burning DVDs from FLV format files? Is there one
for MOV files, if FLVs could be converted to MOV format? Wake up Apple in
QuickTime!

SUPER does not open up at all. I have downloaded and installed and tried to
install the 27.242 KB zip file several times. No luck. The installation is
complete but when I double click on the icon, there is no application
opening up.
And why does XP flash the Information bar about harmful downloads after
starting the download for SUPER. Is there any problem?

Sorry...I have no idea what the problem is.
Maybe it's blocked by your firewall.
Downloading from the mirror like I suggested
should produce an .exe file...not a .zip file.
Maybe it would be a good idea to do a
System Restore to a time before you down-
loaded and installed it and forget about it.

If you are prepared to pay (not much) the best software to convert FLV files
that I've come across is Xilisoft.
There is one version that is just for converting FLV files but I have the
complete package (Xilisoft Video Converter) and it's great.
http://www.xilisoft.com/
It's definitely worth every penny I spent... it basically makes anything
into anything you can think of, the only thing it won't do is burn direct to
a DVD, but it will make VOB files for you.

I have the exe file from SUPER. Installation from it gets completed without
any flaw. But I do not see the application folder when the process says
Installation Finish.
Since I had an Information Bar from my Anti-Virus software during the
download and it automatically sent a System Scan for analysis to its support
desk, I suspect that some malware got downloaded along with the SUPER file.
I am waiting for a feedback from the HelpDesk on what the problem was.

The application folder should be found at:
Program Files / eRightSoft / Super
Try going to...Start / Run.....
type: super.exe and press enter.
It may take a few seconds to launch and
as I previously told you...it could be blocked
by your firewall.
Since you are having such an issue with it
why not simply do a system restore and forget
about it.

I have studied the specifications of the FLV converter from xilisoft
web-page. The converter can convert from various video formats TO flv fomat
and not vice versa which is what I need. Alternatively, I need a software
which can convert FLV videos to VOB format and author them into a DVD. It
seems, currently FLV format is being used only for streaming videos on the
net and not for capturing videos which can be made into DVDs.

It will convert FLV to other formats.... when you're importing the files,
just make sure you use the ALL FILES option in the drop down menu or it
won't see them.
