I recently bought a laptop and installed XP Pro and Office 2007. A file that
I am using with tables in it shows this error window:

"This error message may be the result of a corrupt table in the current
document.

You can recover the contents of the document and the table by closing the
document, and then reopening it by using the Open and Repair command of the
Open dialog box (Microsoft Office Button menu). To find the Open and Repair
command, click the down arrow next to the Open button. The Open and Repair
command is at the bottom of the menu. After the file is repaired, the
corruption or incorrect formatting of all tables in the document should be
corrected.

If the document still has errors in a table after a repair, you may want to
examine each table to see if any text is too long for any given cell or row,
or if an incomplete table was created or imported into the document."

For all I have tried I cannot find the Microsoft Office Button menu. I need
help.

Thanks

Thanks for your response. I went to the Office Button alright and clicked
the down arrow to its right. But the Open and Repair command is not there. I
believe I could go to some Options command somewhere and have the Open and
Repair command placed in there. Would appreciate if you could tell me how to
do it.
Thanks

I don't know what you are clicking but the Office button is the round
multi-coloured logo at the top left of your Word Window that looks like a
pizza! No down arrows are involved there.

This will give you another window from which you can select Open which will
open an Explorer like file open dialog. With the document selected in that
dialog, click the down arrow next to the open button and Open and Repair is
the last item in the list.

Got it right as you instructed. Got the "open and repair" command and
clicked on it, and there seemed to be a les than one second repair. Restart
the computer and open the document again, but the original error msg appears
again. Did the repair again, but still the same thing. Restart again and
repair the folder this time. This folder as a number of sub-folders in it
and a number of files. But I still get the original error msg on opening
that document. Anything else I can do?
Thanks

I really wish I could send it to you. But it is a sensitive doc. The one of
my actual stocks investments with the money in/money out and Profit and loss
etc. I had inserted a couple of tables into the Word doc, and some of the
tables are corrupted as they were transfered from XP office in my PC to
this Office 2007 that is in my new laptop.
