No Sound From Streaming Video

I have XP Professional. I have the feeling I'm missing a system file, but I
have no idea which one.

I can play sound from any media player, even IE imbedded WMP, Quicktime,
etc. But any streaming video using Flash, like on YouTube, I get no sound.
I've tried uninstalling Flash and reinstalling and still no sound.

Anyone have any ideas?
