vpn access with browser open

Hello,

I have a laptop with XP Home latest updates.
And I use a vpn to connect to a remote office.
However I cannot connect unless I close outlook and IE.
Neither it seems can my collegues. I get a blue screen of death.
So I cannot use the VPN and use the internet at the same time <sigh>.
How can I investigate this adn find a solution?
