So what you want is two different shortcuts on *your* desktop so that when
you double-click on one - it takes you to one web page and when you
double-click on the other it takes you to a different web page...
Open Internet Explorer.
Manually visit the web page you desire to go to/make the shortcut for (the
first one.)
Make the internet explorer window small enough that you can see some empty
area on the desktop 'behind' it.
In the 'address' area - where the actual address of the web page is - there
is normally a little icon (sometimes the default blue e symbol) to the left
of the address. Whatever that symbol may be, right-click (and hold down the
mouse button) on top of it... Then
drag the mouse pointer to the blank area of the desktop and release the
right mouse button. It should ask you what would you like to do - you want
to Create a Shortcut.
Repeat for the second page.

Sure.
Open the first page in IE. Drag the icon on the address bar to the desktop.
Do the same for the second page.

Open the first web site.
At the top of the window, click on the File menu.
Note: If you're using Internet Explorer 7 the menu toolbar
might not be visible. If this is the case hold down the Alt key
to display the menu toolbar.
On the File menu, move your mouse pointer down to Send.
In the menu that pops out, click on "Shortcut to Desktop".
Do the same for each web site.
The following will also work.
Open a web site.
Right click on the icon in the far left of your browser's
address bar.
Drag the icon down to the taskbar.
This should cause all open windows to be minimized.
You can now drop the icon on to your desktop.

Hello, Probable several ways.
If using IE7: go to the web page then click on "file" the dropdown menu
should have "send" this should have a dropdown menu with "shortcut to
desktop",
click this and a desktop shortcut will be created for the active web page.

You say you've tried to do this already - it would be helpful for us to know
what you've tried so far and how it failed.
The easiest way is probably this: open the first web page in question in
Internet Explorer. Then choose File (from the menu) > Send > Shortcut to
desktop. For IE7, if the menu bar isn't showing, select View > Toolbars >
Menu bar. Repeat for the other web page.
Alternatively, right-click a blank area of the desktop (viz one free of
icons), select New then Shortcut, type in the web address, click next, give
the shortcut a name (which is just a label and can be anything) then Finish.
Repeat for the other web page.
Note that this is not related in any way to your setting for your Home Page
for Internet Explorer. But of course, if one of the sites IS your home page,
you need not do the above step for that site, but just use the IE desktop
icon to open it. The advantage of NOT doing that is that if you change your
home page, you'll still have these shortcuts opening the right pages for
you. |
