Wow. this is a really old post. Wonder if the problem is fixed, as I have
to do the same thing with my new computer and vista, which so far I really
hate....I have been on tech support twice in 6 weeks for a frozen computer
and a blank screen...I will check back here to see if anyone has posted
anything regarding cakewalk. I wonder if Byte called tech support for
cakewalk....I imagine there are driver issues?//

AFAIA, Cakewalk Sonar 6.2.1 is the only software they do compatible with
Vista......... Have you tried a Cakewalk Forum (available from their
website) ?
Music Creator perhaps in Compatability mode perhaps, I don't have Vista, so
I don't know (and don't care for the moment) MC will work in XP.
However, you really could try consulting a Vista Newsgroup (or Cakewalk).

I have the same problem also.. not only in media player, but in any player I
use for downloaded tracks as well as ripped normal cd's. I have asjusted the
play speed to 0.850 and I've found that to be the right speed, but the pitch
of the vocals and backing is still too high.
Please help with this..

good. I tried a new restore point, but I'm not sure when the problem
started and the restore point I used did not work. I have new programs
installed so hesitate to go back much further. Any other suggestions? I
ahve another player installed, and the music plays fine there. Should I just
give up on Windows Media Player?

I think this might help because I had the very same problem. Set your
computer back to a time before you had this problem. It dosen't have to be
any particuliar date just as long as its before this mess started. You will
NOT LOSE anything that you've done recently. I did this and the problem was
gone as soon as I rebooted the computer. Good Luck!

Use the CD that came with the XFI sound card, or the CD's that came with
your PC.
Failing that download the latest ones from the Creative Website :

Are you trying to re-install from the CD or from the internet ? If the
former, then try the latter. Go for the autmatic update on the Creative
website, it will install a small ActiveX file that won't harm your PC. Then
download etc.

Okay, so we all have the same problem. A blank disc is, apparently not a disc
at all. Is anyone at Microsoft even bothering to monitor these threads?

I performed a repair install and after that I was back to media player 9 so
I installed 10 from Windows Update and it said it succeeded. It did not as I
still have Media player 9 so I downloaded media player 10 install file then
tried again.
I always get this error when trying to install 10:
"It was not possible to complete Setup. Windows Media Player 10 was not
installed. To update Windows, run Media Player 10 Setup again."
I have reinstalled Video and sound drivers to the latest to make sure that
is not the cause but still get the same message.
The log file for 10 install only has this:
[*WMC Logging begun at 2005/9/30 - 11:55:15. Logging at level: '5'. OS is
NT. OSVer is 5.1.2600.0.2180. System Lang is 1033. Prev version system is

Any ideas of what to try next? |

Is it because Windows Media Player11 will not allow another music player on

Natural first question is: *are* you logged in as an Administrator account?

without recording anything let it run for 60 sec ,go into the file menue
choose save as give it a name. Return to recording session go to edit then
insert file and navigate to the previously saved file and open it, This adds
another 60 sec to the yet to be used recording session, Repeat these stepes
as mant times as you like . good luck .wanda

Hi Everyone,
I have a small problem that I am hoping that someone can
help me with: When I insert a normal cd, or my wedding dvd or just listening
to music on lime wire it sounds slow, dull and the original artist sounds
terrible. This has never happened before.
