Sure it helps. You are using a newsreader that will place the reply to a
message directly below the message in the Subject list. I know exactly what
the Spam is in reference to so I won't open the original.....

Not if I have marked previous messages as "all read". I don't want to fanny
around unmarking read messages just to find what a blank message with the
subject of "SPAM" is referring to. If you wish to use your newsreader with
ALL messages showing at ALL times, then that's up to you - that's NOT the
most efficient manner in which to use a news reader and you might just as
well use the horrible web interface if that's how you view news groups.

Thanks for trying to help Juan Perez. I found out the problem myself. In
case it happens to someone else, I will explain it. Someone else reset the
screen resolution while they were in the "SAFE" mode. Ifd it is too large,
it will make the printed otions disappear to make room. I simply rest it
again and all was normal again.

that's your opinion.
kindly allow me the ALL AMERICAN CHOICE of deciding for myself.

if you wish to report it as spam. then send a message to the persons isp.
if you do not know how to do that, then for sure you are not qualified to judge what is and what is not spam.

Just how did you get these games?

Well - you could use those to edit the ISO and/or burn the ISO to a real
CD/DVD...

You could also use something like DaemonTools to mount the ISO and use it
*like* a CD/DVD drive.

I am using Outlook Express and Windows XP. Thanks so much - Kira

The *music* is an attachment?
Right click on the attachment (when you open said email you should see the
attached files at the top) and select 'Save As'.
The rest should be obvious.

create an Administrator first. well I did that and the new user, but i cannot

files.

Your post is a bit difficult to follow, but I'm going to guess that 1)
you are using XP Pro; 2) you were using the built-in Administrator
account for your daily work - bad idea; 3) you created a new user
account with administrative privileges (we'll call this "User Account
A") and were unpleasantly surprised to no longer see an icon for
Administrator on the Welcome Screen.

Is this a correct guess? If yes, then the answer is that this is by
design. The built-in Administrator account will be hidden after you do
#3 above because it is bad practice to use the built-in Administrator
account for daily work. It should be saved for emergencies.

If this correctly describes your situation, create another user account
with administrative privileges because you will need it to work from.
We'll call this "User Account B". Log into User Account B and copy your
data from the built-in Administrator account (which you were using) to
your "User Account A". Here are instructions:

HOW TO Create and Configure User Accounts in Windows XP -

If the above does *not* describe what is happening, please post back
after taking a look at this link to see what details you need to include:

This might be overkill, but just use Truecrypt
(http://www.truecrypt.org/) and created a encrypted, password protected
partition. Takes about a minute to set up and very easy to use.

And yes, it's free and open-source.

My page file usage is consistently in the 440 - 450 mb range and my PC is
sluggish.

the recommended RAM in XP running IE6 is 512 MB. 256 with IE7 just won't cut
the mustard.

I don't agree at all. How much RAM you need is *not* a
one-size-fits-all situation. You get good performance if the amount of
RAM you have keeps you from using the page file, and that depends on
what apps you run. Most people running a typical range of business
applications find that somewhere around 256-384MB works well, others
need 512MB. Almost anyone will see poor performance with less than
256MB. Some people, particularly those doing things like editing large
photographic images, can see a performance boost by adding even more
than 512MB--sometimes much more.

I've seen lots of 256MB computers running XP, with IE7, with perfectly
acceptable performance.

However, in *her* case in particular, based on what she's reported, I
think it's likely that an upgrade to 512MB would help her
substantially.

Quote:
You need to upgrade (if you can) to at LEAST 512 MB.

"Need" is far to strong a word, but I agree that it will probably help
her.

Quote:
If your
processor is earlier than Pentium 4 I would suggest 1GB RAM if your
motherboard allows it.

There's no way anyone can know that 1GB would make *any* improvement
over 512MB for her. For many, perhaps even most, people, little or no
difference would be seen by going from 512MB to 1GB.

Hello Juan,
Thanks for responding and offering to help. When I go to Start, there is no
choice called Settings. When I go to Control Panel, and try to open User
Accounts, it will not open; right click, left click on it and nothing works.
Any more suggestions? I do appreciate the help!
Gracias (sp),

I have XP Home. Somehow, many of my programs will not run unless I
right-click and do a "run as". I am trying to set up the soft ware
(FinePix) but apparently it is under Adminstrator and I cannot get it to
load
or setup. What a mess. Also trying to get proper set up for CA Virus
protection software, but it is a no go, apparetly due to this Adminstrator
issue. Can someone help get me back to basics????

Thanks.
