This update is on my computer (adobe check) but there is a conflict with
KB923789
which, if you try to instal comes up with the following messages:
Gen Warn: The version of Wndows you have installed (XPpro/SP2/IE7) does not
match the update you are trying to install
Gen Warn Flash: The version of Macromedia Flash that you have installeddoes
not match the update you are trying to install.
I find that, now, I have an invalid ActiveX/com entry which cannot be removed
because it refers to C:\WINDOWS\System32\Macromed\Flash\Flash6.ocx and flash
6 no longer is on my computer.
I then checked the registry item
CLSID\{1171A62F-05D2-11D1-83FC-00A0C9089C5A}\NprocServer32 and it is
impossible to remove it or to modify to change it to refer to Flash9.ocx
Finally all registry cleaners locate this item but deletion cannot be
effeceted.
Incidentally Adobe have a CMD cleaner item, which is, simply, not recognized
as valid.
I am just a geriatric beginner and am sorely in need of real advice please. |

Registry cleaners are dubious at best and of no real need
Go here to the Adobe support link
http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/
Click on:
"How to uninstall the Adobe flash plug-in and ActiveX"
It is a downloadable uninstall tool.
Once you have completely uninstalled Adobe flash player
go here: http://www.adobe.com/downloads/
To left of screen under heading "Readers and Players"
Click to download and install latest version of Adobe Flash player.
Then goto: Start/Windows Update
Click the "Custom" button
Allow the Scan to complete
Listed will be updates available for your PC, select all.
The KB hotfix you were having problems installing should no
longer be listed. If it is, it will now install. |
