I'm having the same problem you had with editing a Word 2003 document that
has form fields that has been converted to Word 2007. Are you able to tell
me how to unlock this document?--

OK, I give up. I've searched EVERYWHERE including in Help and cannot find

changes, but god knows where the command has been hidden.

Can anyone tell me where they've hidden this control?

Thanks.

perhaps the reason why he is posting here is because he cannot find
the answer in other groups. hmmmm if u look at other groups none of
them relate to vista or word 2007, all are xp and word 2003. perhaps
the reason he is having a problem is because he is not as computer
savy. mabye cant find the other groups. if you wont answer him then
dont post anything. i have the same exact problem as him and am
looking for help with my version. yes i tried the other versions
advice and it did not work. what you are doing is being an ass.

I have endnote X1 which is supposed to be vista compatible, but it does the
same thing.
It may be to do wih Vista being 64 bit and endnote being a 32 bit
application.
They have a work-around for XP 64 , but it apparently doesn't work for vista
64.

More specifically, it is slow when I change from window to window; e.g., from
Word to the start menu, to explorer, ie7, the minimize and close boxes, etc.
When hover over the buttons they take about 7 seconds to light up, when I
press them they take about 10 second to change or activate. Funny thing
though, if I have two or more window open and I click on the window's field -
it will transfer instantly as if I had pressed the button on the task bar. I
hope you can picture what I am saying here.

The Word groups, including this one, apply to all Word versions. What is not
acceptable, and which Herb was alluding to, was posting the same question to
a variety of groups, without linking the messages, which creates an
unwelcome duplication of effort for those of us who regularly answer
questions. If Herb has, as indicated, already posted a reply in another of
the Word groups, then Google will help you (and the OP) locate the thread -
though presumably the latter knows where he posted the questions?

Hi Vicky

Vicky wrote:

Could you explain how that is accomplished? I've never done it before.

you can set Workgroup templates via Office Button | Word Options |
Advanced and there in the leftmost button right above Compatibility
Options (sorry, have to point you to it like this, since I'm using a
different language version right now Smile).

As for a logon script method, sorry: I'm no IT Pro (i.e., never had to
administer a corporate network), but the folks who do should know. The
script shall copy the files in the user's template folder (which can be
set through the same dialog as above).

In essence, this is not a Word problem, so you will be better off in a
forum discussing, say, your operating system and/or the tool you use to
write to CD.

That is, unless you tried to write the file directly from Word (Save
As-Dialog), when the answer is: don't do that! Save the file to your
hard disc, then write to CD from there.

I presume the drive was able to write in the first place, and that you
did use a CD-R disc?

Posting the same question three times in 20 minutes will not guarantee you
an answer. Have you tried searching the archives of this group to see if
anyone has ever posted any suggestions? (I know they have so it's a good
idea to look first.)

You clearly didn't understand the point. The other person had posted the
IDENTICAL question in multiple newsgroups. If you don't understand the
problem and inconsideration of doing that, then perhaps you've found the
perfect noun to describe yourself.

Beth

I have now tried all the fixes I can find, and nothing has worked, so I have
uninstalled the MS Office package.
Even though it was installed on my larger E drive, I now have another gig
free on the C drive. Really confused now! I have searched the C Drive for
"Office" and it has found 97 entries, some of which are for Open Office. Is
there something here do you think?

"Daveyraveygravey" wrote:

There's lots of steps there!

I think I have either worked through them all or they don't apply. However,
right at the end of that post, when telling me how to find the Start up path,
I see it should look like this -

Looking in the registry for:

(Word 97): HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\8.0\Word\Options\

“STARTUP-PATH”

(Word 2000): HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Word\Options\

“STARTUP-PATH”

(Word 2002): HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Word\Options\

“STARTUP-PATH”

Mine is Word blah blah /12/ etc, but I don't have "START-UP PATH" at the end.

Is that it and if so how do I fix it?

Dave

PS Thanks for the help so far!

I don't think it is a Beta version, it's just the symptoms are identical to
the first poster, and I don't have the Comp pack anyway!

When I click on Word 07m either in the startup menu, or on the app itself,
I
get the same message about not enough memory or disk space to open word.
Word doesn't open, and neither do any of the other Office progs. Some
have a
similar message, some just don't do anything.

I have cleared as many old files as I can and tried to clean the registry.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software, still having the same
problem.

"Beth Melton" wrote:

Can you describe the issue you are encountering specifically? Are you
still
using a beta version (if you are I'm wondering how. Wink ) and do you have
the Compatibility Pack and Office 2007 installed? Or do you have the
Compatibility Pack installed with another version of Office? If so, which
version?
