I can do a mail-merge but I need to be able to colour the background of cells
according to the values placed in them. No problems in Excel, but Word? |

Word doesn't do conditional formatting, but you can embed an Excel sheet in
Word.

Hi 'Under Pressure',
If the values you're referring to are numbers, you could use a numeric picture switch to change the colours and other attributes of
the fonts, and the background colours for the values themselves. Not what you're asking for, but it might suit your needs. To see
how, check out my Word Field Maths 'tutorial', at:
http://www.wopr.com/cgi-bin/w3t/showthreaded.pl?Number=365442
or
http://www.gmayor.com/downloads.htm#Third_party
In particular, look at the item titled 'Formatting Numeric Field Results'
Cheers
