|
|
My father is working with a WIN '98 system and does not have internet
connection. I read through the HELP section of his computer and it suggests
two possible ways for me to connect to his computer from mine. I have an XP.
The HELP recommended either connecting through dial-up or through hyper
terminal.
My questions are:
1) which is the recommended way, computer to computer, using two different
versions of WINDOWS?
2) is there any problem connecting an XP directly to '98 with regard to file
transfer specifically, since we were unable to use our backup disks from the
'98 on our XP due to incompatibility?
3) IF using dial-up, is ID and password needed since this is not going
through an ISP? How would that work?
4) Is there any special setting for the computer answering the 'call?'
All help and advice is appreciated. |
