again..which got me thinking maybe its my power supply or something... so has
anybody had a situation like this where they can help me know whats going on?

That sux dude sorry to hear that. My mate had the ring of death problem
turned out it was a download he was doing!?!?!?
He was able to get onto the console for about 2 two minutes then it would
freeze and it ring would show.
Cancled the download and it went away.
And yes it was the ring of death cause it was the same lights lit us as mine
when that went.

There is a way to see what error the red ring represents. You can use it to
find out if the GP, CPU, Powersupply, RAM etc is messed up. Goto
xbox-scene.com, join the forums and look and ask around. They helped me
fix my red lights the right way, although this was before the 3 year
warrantee popped up, but alas, I have a working 360!
The power brick itself COULD be a problem. However, I am pretty sure that
the light on the supply also contains a red LED, in which case if the supply
were faulty, you would get an error on the brick. Hope this helps.

When my console suffered RRoD, the guy I spoke to at Xbox Support said to
check the light on my power supply as part of the troubleshooting process.
He said if the light on the brick was green then the power supply was fine.
If the light on your power supply is amber or red that could be your
problem, but from what I've seen they are expensive to replace at $80.

The main cause of RRoD is the obscene amount of heat it generates. If you
plan to purchase one, wait until later this year when the entire chipset
(CPU and GPU) has been shrunk to 65nm (Jasper). The latest and greatest is
the "Falcon" which has a 65nm process CPU (yay!) but still the old 90nm GPU.
You can thank ATI and Microsoft for your console failures and for being
paying beta testers.
