A lot of people have Andreas. I believe Major Nelson wrote about the
situation (and the reasons) in his blog (www.majornelson.com) at one point.
What I would do is when you turn 18, I would abandon your "child" account
and start a new Gold account with a similar name. All the gamertag scores
will go away, but you can easily continue onward and upward with the new
account and new games.
And, btw, it isn't Microsoft or the Xbox folks who have caused this
situation. It is the the Child Online Protection Act (passed by the U.S.
Congress back in the 1990's - long before Xbox Live) which is supposed to
protect children under the age of 18 from "live" chatting.
That's one of the reasons why we don't have "live" Hearts in any of the
operating systems any more, but a canned system of messages when you play
that game instead of being able to play with friends and family in a
networked situation. I once used Hearts on Windows 3.11 (or something like
that) to train 14 secretaries to give up their typewriters and use computers
"playing" so they got used to a smart "typewriter."
