My Linksys wireless router doesn't assign an IP, address to by Xbox 360. The
Xbox is connecting to the network and the network DHCP is enabled on my
server so it is set to assign an IP. Also, I have connected my notebook and
wireless print server to the network so I know the router is working.

Has anyone had a similar problem or know how to fix this? Thanks.

Linksys Routers are big piles of garbage. I'd never own one ever again.
I'd have to unplug the thing at least weekly to reset it so I could connect
to the internet. My current Router is 100% problem free, which is good as
I want my Slingbox Pro to work when I'm not home, not have a failed
connection because of a junk Linksys router.

Anyway, your better off if YOU assign a permanent IP address yourself. You
use your 360's MAC address in your Router, when it see's it, it assigns it
to 192.168.0.5 or whatever you want it using every single time. Same with
your other hardware, then you Manually forward the correct ports your PC, or
360 or whatever else needs, because UPnP is pretty flaky. DHCP can and will
otherwise give your devices different IP address all the time. Example,
turn your PC on and then the 360, well your PC is 192.168.0.2 and your 360
is 192.168.0.3 and the next time you just leave your PC off and turn on your
360, now your 360 is 192.168.0.2, then your turn your PC on and it's
192.168.0.3. They have now just reversed IP addresses. If your forwarding
ports to one address or the other or both, now neither will work correctly
and you'll have problems. UPnP is suppose to handle this Automatically, but
like I said is flaky. Unreliable. I want 100% or as close to it
Reliability. I haven't had to reset my Router since I've owned it, for over
a year. My Slingbox Pro as worked 100% of the time for the last 6 months
and haven't had to touch it. My 360 connects to LIVE 100% of the time
unless LIVE is offline for Maintenance.

I'm going to have to say, for you it's a combo of problems. Linksys Router
being #1, and #2 is User Error. Something is not set right in the settings.
Without looking though it, I have no idea. Again, if you Manually set it up
to use a Specific IP address when it see's the device's MAC address, then
this problem doesn't matter. The MAC address will look something like this
00:13:C6:02:4C:94 and they are completely different for all your devices.
When you turn your 360 on, your Router see's it's MAC address, and assigns
it's a IP address using DHCP. Instead of relying on it and it's changing
nature, you set your Router up it use a Specific IP address instead. Any
and every time from then on will always use that Specific IP address. My
Router Shows the MAC address for anything that connected to it, Wired or
Wireless, and it's pretty simple to configure it to do this. Even my
PocketPC when I'm connected wireless, it's still always using the SAME IP
address I assigned for it. The only time I ever have to screw with my
Router is to Add some new Hardware or Forward some new port to one of the
devices.

P.S. My Router is a DLINK DGL-4300. With a crapload of features. I've
owned a wired Linksys and Netgear before this wireless one. Everything is
WIRED to it other then my PocketPC for BEST and problem free performance.

Just set a static IP for the Xbox using your networks infomation. Be sure
to manually set the gateway and DNS numbers as well.

Have you tried checking for firmware updates from Linksys?
