Toolbars keep getting cleared

I made several custom toolbars that I use heavily. Periodically, I open word
and the tool bars are there, but empty--somehow all the commands in them are
gone. I then use the organizer to copy the toolbar from a backup template
back into the normal template, but it takes time and is frustrating that
these things happen. For some reason it only happens to the two toolbars I
have on the left side of the window, not the two on the top of the window.

Any ideas about why this is happening or where to look for the source of the
incorrect toolbars?
